Prices are labour. We will call before fitting anything that changes the total by more than £20, and we do not fit parts you have not agreed to.
Older steel frames, hub gears, and bikes that other shops have declined because parts are discontinued. We keep a deep box of cottered cranks, 27-inch rims and five-speed freewheels, and we would rather repair a thirty-year-old bike than sell you a new one.
We also service e-bikes, with the exception of systems whose diagnostics are locked to the manufacturer's dealer network. If yours is one of those we will say so on the phone rather than after you have carried it up the step.
We do not sell new bikes, we do not hire, and we have no clothing rail. There is a floor pump by the door that anybody may use, whether or not you are a customer.
In stock this week: a 56 cm touring frame with fresh cables, a step-through three-speed serviced and ready, and two children's 20-inch bikes. All are sold with a month's free adjustment because cables stretch and that is not your fault.
The blue door beside the launderette, halfway down Pike Street. There is a bike stand outside and a bench for waiting. If the workshop door is open and nobody is at the counter, call out — someone is under a bike at the back.
